FDR's Annual Summer Fete
Fabulous day, wonderful weather and lots of laughter and fun.
Thank you to all our incredible hard working volunteers, new additions too, not only for today and other events but for all the hours spent preparing for days like today, you all make such a difference. Can we take this opportunity to wish Linda (one of our longest volunteers) a speedy recovery after falling poorly earlier today. This amazing lady still came to offer her support regardless of her not feeling 100%, thank you Linda, get well soon with best wishes from everyone here at FDR.
Also today -Mike Smith Guitar Academy Students
Mike Smith and Dave Hands kindly came along to the Fete and proudly presented Forest Dog Rescue with a cheque for an incredible £2547.85!
There were many sleepless nights for Mike and his team/students as many frustrating changes kept presenting themselves along the way but in the end all was conquered and a wonderful evening of musical entertainment was presented to a very supportive, keen and enthusiastic audience. On Saturday evening (11 June, Kidderminster Town Hall) we had the pleasure of listening to a group of very talented musical students of all ages, all have been guided and taught by the Mike Smith Academy. They truly did him proud including his daughter Hollie along with another female vocalist, Charlotte! The students had to learn given tracks by CD, then get up on stage and come together as a band and play their hearts out with no previous rehearsals at all with other members, what an astonishing achievement this turned out to be.It’s no easy task to get up on stage and just get on with it so to speak, even the compere (Jeremy Brett) had to fill in with 3 minutes between each song totally unrehearsed! Well done Jeremy you did a really good job lol.During a sort of interval, we were entertained by Pat Aston, he is also one of Mikes acoustic students and did 4 songs completely on his own, so relaxed! Also because of a change in dates, not all of Mikes students could attend the new date and one person in particular decided he wasn't going to miss contributing to this wonderful challenge.Dave Hands has been associated with FDR for quite some time now and courageously went on facebook with his tribute to the cause, this was in itself an incredibly brave thing to do and we were all treated to a very enjoyable "Highway to Hell! Well done Dave! Forest Dog Rescue would like to pass on their heartfelt thanks to each and every one who made this evening such a success.A huge "Well done" Mike and thank you all so much, you must be so proud and we at FDR are so grateful and humbled to have been your chosen Charity this time round.
