Millie & Buddy

Millie and Buddy came into our care following the sad passing of their owner. Kind neighbours did all they could to look after them, popping in to feed them and spend time with them, but it wasn't a long-term solution. Now they're looking for a loving family who can keep them together and give them the happy future they deserve.

Millie is a 5-year-old Labrador, while Buddy is a 3-year-old Labrador cross, possibly with a little Spaniel in the mix. They arrived with us very overweight, but they are now on a low-fat diet (don't tell them!), more healthy treats and we are building their exercise up, they're already making fantastic progress on their weight-loss journey.

From the moment they arrived, they've been nothing but happy, waggy dogs who are loving their walks, opportunities to explore the fields and plenty of time in the playpen!

Their one downside is that they are terrible on the lead, they can both be very strong though we are working on this but they'll need owners who are happy to continue their lead work to get loose leads and not pull their owners all over the place. At the moment, they're a too much for one person to comfortably walk together, but with consistency and patience, there is no doubt they will improve.

Water is one of their favourite things in the world, closely followed by tennis balls and plenty of fuss from their favourite people! They're both incredibly affectionate and love being involved in whatever you're doing.

Buddy is the more confident of the two and is always first in line to greet new people, Millie can be a little more reserved when meeting someone for the first time, but she takes great confidence from Buddy and soon comes out of her shell to enjoy a good bum scratch.

They've lived happily together all their lives and have been friendly with other dogs while in our care, although they haven't shared their home with any others so ideally we are looking for a home where they can remain as a duo.

We're hoping to find a home that understands this lovely pair's needs and is committed to continuing their weight-loss journey. As they become fitter, they'll need an active lifestyle with plenty of walks, adventures and opportunities to explore, so they're looking for a family who can keep up with them and enjoy making lots of happy memories together.
