Mac

Meet our big lovable donut Mac! Mac found his way to us as a stray, unbelievably nobody claimed him so we have promised to find him an amazing home where he will never be abandoned again!

Though Mac is a big boy we definitely think he believes he is a Chihuahua, he has no idea how big he is opting to try and fit on your lap, jumping up for cuddles half knocking you over and wiping out anything on the side in the office with his tail wag. He is such a softy who loves everyone, he is incredibly affectionate - unless there is food around then do expect a river of dribble and puppy dog eyes pleading with you to share!

When he first came in to us he was diabolical to say the least on the lead, he had no comprehension that humans were walking him rather then he walk his human but we have made huge improvements and he does now walk really well with a competent handler, plenty of guidance and a slip lead. We would say any new owner would need to be experienced handling larger breeds and may need to continue his lead work in new environments as he does get excited and forget himself at times so can be quite strong.

Mac is good with other dogs, just your typical wiggly, excited 40kg overgrown puppy! We do think he could live with another dog, perhaps one of his own size provided temperaments suit but he would be just as happy being the only dog, the center of the family and not having to share treats!

We would definitely recommend some training classes for him as we don't think he's had much work done, though he does know 'sit' he would benefit further obedience work to nail his other commands but he is food motivated and loves being told he is a good boy!

We feel that Mac would be better suited to a home with either no children or older children with experience around large dogs, simply for the fact that he could easily accidentally knock smaller children over and does snatch treats (we are working on this).

With some training and consistency Mac will make a beautiful family dog, he really does have a lovely nature!
