Ideal Home

Poor Minty is back with us and looking for another new home 🙁 Minty came into us back in November, he had painful cherry eye which was operated on to rectify (which thankfully worked!) he then waited patiently in kennels for several months until he found a foster home but sadly 2 weeks after being adopted by his foster home he was returned to us and he hasn't taken to being back in kennels well - bless him 🙁

Minty was returned due to problems within the home that resulted in them not being able to tackle due to time, space and ability but we are hopeful that with a home with ample space, large garden, plenty of walks and someone with Mastiff experience such problems will be easily overcome as he is such a lovely boy in every way!

Although he is a big boy on the whole he does walk well on the lead however he can be strong at times when he is keen for a particular sniff so he will need an owner that is physically capable of holding him should his nose get the better of him.

Minty is incredibly affectionate and loving, he loves a good chest scratch not to mention plenty of bum rubs and an abundance of kisses too! When he comes into the office as part of his daily constitutional he loves being showered with affection that is until the treats come out then food takes precedence!

His basic commands are there such as 'sit', 'paw' and 'wait', he is very food motivated so he can definitely broaden his knowledge with the help of a gravy bone or four!

We have found that he is good with dogs, mostly blatantly ignoring them though we do know he loves his home comforts, loves having the sofa to himself and most of all having all the attention on him so we think he would be best as an only dog in the home.

In the playpen it's a toss up if he's going to have zoomies or a sniffari just depends on how the mood takes him, when he is excited he can jump up and can also mouthe though it doesn't last very long he is learning this isn't acceptable and he's too big for puppy play however this may need to be continued in his new home. As he has no idea of his own size or weight we'd suggest no small children, he's nearly knocked adults over when he's running around and misjudging a corner almost wiping you out - so we don't want any accidental injuries.

Minty will need an active home where he can get plenty of walks, he would love someone around a lot and someone to commit time to further his training - we have no doubt he will make an incredible dog for someone!
