Ideal Home

Ben is sadly looking for a new forever home due to bereavement and illness in his family. He is currently being cared for by a family member, but this can only be a short-term arrangement, so we are hoping to find him the loving home he deserves as soon as possible.

Ben recently came into the kennels for his assessment and absolutely flew through it. He was a super friendly boy from start to finish, and his tail never stopped wagging! He’s full of personality, loves human attention, and has so much love to give.

We’ve been told Ben is very much “full of beans,” so he’ll need an active home that can keep both his body and brain busy. He loves to play — especially a good game of tuggy — and enjoys zoomies around the garden followed by a nice mooch about outside. Because of this, his new home must have a secure garden with minimum 6ft fencing, as Ben can, will, and has jumped anything lower!

Ben is housetrained and can be left alone for short periods, although he hasn’t regularly been left for long stretches. He has had frequent trips to the beach but he can be a little anxious and cry in the car, but settles much better when someone sits in the back with him.

On walks, Ben is good on the lead when wearing a figure of 8 head collar, though without one he can pull like a steam train! His recall is currently non-existent, so this is something his new family will need to continue working on.

Ben doesn’t pay much attention to other dogs and has never lived with one, so we feel he would be happiest as the only dog in the home, as this is what he is used to. He also doesn’t seem to like cats. He has only had infrequent contact with children and, due to his bouncy and exuberant nature, we feel he would be better suited to a home with older children or no children.

Ben is a sensitive soul underneath all the energy and can be anxious at times, but he is incredibly friendly, affectionate, and absolutely loves a fuss. He’s also very food motivated, which will really help with ongoing training.

One of Ben’s little quirks is that he likes to steal socks and collect them alongside his favourite toys in his den. Once he’s in there, he doesn’t appreciate people taking things away from him, so he’ll need a home that can respect his space and continue positive training by encouraging trades and inviting him out rather than confronting him.

Ben will make a fantastic companion for someone who understands active, sensitive dogs and can give him the time, patience, exercise, and love he needs. In return, you’ll get a fun, affectionate, goofy best friend with a constantly wagging tail.
