Roxy is looking for a new home and will remain with her current owners while we search for the right match. This allows her to avoid the stress of going into kennels, which we feel is the best option for her.
She is being rehomed through no fault of her own. Her owners have made the difficult decision that they are no longer able to meet her needs, so we are looking for someone who can offer her the time, patience and understanding she deserves.
We know finding Roxy the right home won't be easy, but we also know there is someone out there who will be the right fit.
Roxy has a history of abuse before coming to her current home, and this has left her very wary of men. She will take time to build trust with any male in the home, and introductions will need to be slow and managed. Her current owners have made good progress with her confidence, but this will need to continue in her new home. She will also need access to a safe, quiet space when visitors come to the house, particularly men.
In the home, Roxy is calm and quiet. She enjoys fuss and cuddles from the people she knows and is happy relaxing with her family. She loves her walks and can be excitable at the start, but soon settles. She also enjoys being in the water and knows her basic commands.
Roxy currently lives with another dog, is gentle with the resident cat and has lived with teenage children.
She does struggle when left home alone and will need owners who are around for much of the day initially and are prepared to work on this over time. Travelling is another area where she lacks confidence, although she has been on trips with her current family and can travel with support.
We are looking for a patient home that understands nervous dogs and is prepared to let Roxy settle at her own pace. She has plenty to offer the right family, but she will need people who accept her for who she is and are willing to continue building her confidence.
If you think you could offer Roxy the home she needs, please get in touch.
