Bertie has come into us from a stray pound where alike many his future was uncertain until a rescue space was offered, which thankfully we did... so now his second chance can begin!!
When he first came in he was quite a shy boy, unsure of everything - including pigs ears, no idea what he was supposed to do with it (don't worry he has now worked out it's a tasty treat to be eaten asap!) but now he is making progress everyday!!
On the lead he does walk well, occasionally he can get a bit carried away with a sniff or excited seeing another dog but he certainly isn't one to pull your arm off or tow you along.
We know he is now a big fan of toys, any toy will apparently do! It all started in the secrecy of his kennel.. playing with all of his toys (and he had a lot) with the evidence of what looked like an explosion in a toy factory but never did he touch a toy when we were around nor did he play with us in the playpen, in fact quite the opposite, he used to cower or run away and hide 🙁 Thankfully one day he trusted us enough & couldn't contain himself any longer in the playpen and the rest was history - playtime is anytime!
We do think he could live with another dog, one with a relaxed but playful nature like him perhaps one of his size otherwise he would be quite happy being an only dog!
At the moment Bertie can still be a bit hand shy and worried with sudden movements so we feel a home without younger children may be best suited for him, a quieter environment but one he will still get all of his walks and get out on adventures - he is only 2 and we do think his cheeky more energetic side will soon emerge!
