Dave came into us as a stray with no history, so we don’t know anything about his life before arriving with us. What we do know is that this boy LOVES everyone and he certainly isn’t afraid to show it! Dave is a big, excitable, overgrown pup who has a whole heap of love to give and bags of potential — he just needs someone willing to help him learn how to channel all that enthusiasm.

Dave has lots to learn when it comes to his basic commands, obedience and managing his excitement as it's clear he's not had much in the way of training so we would recommend some classes to help with this but he does love his treats and being told he is a good boy so we're hoping he picks things up quickly!

He is an energetic boy who will need an active home where he can enjoy plenty of walks, adventures and opportunities to burn off some of that energy. He absolutely loves his time in the playpen where he zoom round and play, he isn't remotely fussy when it comes to toys — tuggy? Yes please. Tennis ball? Absolutely. Teddy? Hand it over, Dave is always ready to play.

Dave has met lots of dogs since being with us and he greets them all the same, play bow, bum wiggle and jump around ready to play however he doesn't always have the best canine etiquette at times he doesn't yet fully understand that not every dog he meets wants to join in with his games or be bounced! We do think he would be best as an only dog for now, until he has learned a bit more about respecting other dogs boundaries.

On the lead, Dave is a work in progress. We have already started working with him but he is a strong boy and will need a handler able to hold him until he learns not to pull. When the fields are quiet and he can focus on his handler, he can actually walk beautifully. However, when there are lots of distractions around, that excitable brain can take over and he can pull and become easily distracted. This is something his new family will need to continue working on.

Dave really is so much fun. There isn't a dull moment when he's around, and underneath all that excitement is a lovely boy with so much potential. He just needs someone who can see past the big, bouncy pup and help him grow into the wonderful adult dog we know he can be.

Dave is looking for an active family who are prepared to put the time into his training, continue working on his lead walking and help him learn that he doesn't need to say hello to absolutely everyone at 100 miles an hour!

In return, you're getting a happy, affectionate, playful and wonderfully goofy boy who will most definitely bring plenty of laughter!
