Ideal Home

MACS is looking for a new home due to family circumstances meaning he isn't get the time or attention he needs. On assessment the staff member said he was one of the easiest dogs she has assessed in a long time!
We did manage to find him a home however, he has since returned to our care. During the settling-in period, he reacted when being handled while having flea treatment applied and when being moved by his collar whilst wearing a pair of leather gauntlets!!! (yes you did read that correctly), which is understandable given the stress of a new environment, new people, and unfamiliar routines. Aside from this, he has shown himself to be a lovely, affectionate boy who enjoys companionship and has so much to offer.
He was returned to the kennels and is unfortunately really struggling - when anxious or stressed he is a spinner and he hasn't really stopped since coming in. It really is heartbreaking to see and despite our best efforts he is not getting any better so we are struggling to see the real Macs.
Macs is a friendly and loving lad who has a typical collie brain. He loves to be doing something whether that is going on adventures or playing with toys. He is good with other dogs pretty much ignoring their existence but has never lived with another dog and his owners would prefer him to be the only dog in the home if possible.
Macs can get a little anxious especially in built up areas due the traffic and hustle and bustle. He would much prefer a rural setting with fewer visitors - just a calm and peaceful environment with adults only. He is not cat tested.
Macs had to have surgery when he was 7 months old and can stiffen up if he has too much exercise so although he would love go on all day hikes this wouldn't be advisable. Saying that he is still up for longish walks and limited ball playing - he has been seen by a vet on a continuous basis and they have no concerns.
He would benefit from an owner who is patient, willing to take the time to build trust, and able to read and respect his body language as he adjusts. With understanding and consistency, we believe he will make a wonderful companion.
