Our beautiful girl Star has come into us from a private home, her owners had recently bought her online after their late GSD passed away leaving there remaining GSD pining. Her owners had hoped Star could be their next companion but unfortunately she was too much for the other dog, becoming withdrawn and unable to cope with her energy levels so for the needs of both dogs they brought her to us to find a better matched family to give her the life she deserves.
On the lead Star has much improved from the pulling excitable pup that arrived with us, she is walked on a slip lead and aside from getting excited when she sees other dogs she is walking much better to heel with a competent handler but there is still room for improvement.
Star loves other dogs, she is somewhat oversocialised in that she wants to see and say hello to every dog she sees however she is quite over the top and doesn't really understand canine etiquette that well so we would suggest her being the only dog in the home for now, until she has learned some more canine manners.
As you can imagine with GSD in her breeding she is a clever little cookie, she loves learning new things, easily picks things up and works out dog puzzles with ease so she would benefit a home where her brain is put to good use, she would be ace at obedience, Rally, Agility or even flyball. She has a good firm base to her basic commands but would benefit further training to expand on this.
Star loves her toys, loves playing and generally being out and about so she will definitely need an active home, lots of walks, playtime and mental stimulation are a must.
We do know that Star travels well and was good as gold at her last appointment at the vets for her vaccination. Her owners have also said she is 95% housetrained (with the odd accident), loves her fuss and cuddles and is good with everyone she meets.
Hopefully we can find Star a paw-fect home where they can bring out the best in her and enjoy loads of adventures in the future!
